Romo, a week after his arrest for allegedly drinking and driving, isn't taking part in the Texas State Open.
DALLAS - It hasn't been the best week for former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, as he was arrested in Wisconsin for allegedly drinking and driving.
And now, as Romo was set to take part in the 56th M&P Group Texas State Open that was set to be played at Cascades Country Club in Tyler, it has now been confirmed that Romo has withdrawn from the tournament per CBS19.
It isn't known if his withdrawal from the tournament coincides with his arrest; it is a good assumption to think that it is the reason.
Per NBCsports.com, Romo took part in a golf tournament, the Wisconsin Amateur Championship in West Bend, which he finished tied for 73rd last week, so not exactly a great time for the former Cowboys quarterback.
Romo, who is seen as one of the best celebrity golfers around, had a horrific time of it in West Bend.
He had rounds of 79, 78,80 and then an 82, which saw him finish a whopping 32 shots back of champion Spence Turtz.
What's more, per GolfMagic.com, Romo's performance at the tournament netted him just $60 in prize money, so it nearly makes his participation in the tournament not worth it.
Then, his reported OWI, and now he has withdrawn from his next tournament, so Romo hasn't exactly had the best of times over the past week.
We know that Romo has a long career with the Cowboys, and we also know he is rather fond of golf and is rather good.
Romo has won the American Century Championship, a celebrity tournament, three times, but when it comes to PGA golf, Romo has participated four times, but missed the cut in all four of those tournaments.
So when it comes to celebrity tournaments, Romo is better than most, but when coming up against the professionals, he struggles, and badly.
Of course, there is no shame in that, but this past week, you could argue, has been the worst time for Romo and his golfing career.
Having withdrawn from the 56th M&P Group Texas State Open, it isn't known when we will see Romo on a golf course again, but when he is, he's not going to be in good form.
