Travelers Championship Preview: Scheffler Hunts Clark Revenge
Jun 25, 2026 12:00 PM

Scottie Scheffler enters the 2026 Travelers Championship as the favorite, but Wyndham Clark, Xander Schauffele and Sam Burns are lurking.

The 2026 Travelers Championship rolls into TPC River Highlands this week, and the PGA Tour’s final signature event of the season has a little bit of everything ... star power, revenge angles, major championship baggage and one very dangerous golf course that loves chaos.

Scottie Scheffler opens as the DraftKings favorite at 9/2, which sounds about right even if 2026 hasn’t exactly been a victory parade by his ridiculous standards.

One win - The American Express - feels light for the world No. 1, but that’s the problem with being Scheffler.

Anything short of domination gets treated like a slump. He was in the mix at Shinnecock Hills, had a real chance to push toward the career grand slam, and still left without the trophy.

Now he gets TPC River Highlands, a par-70, 6,844-yard track in Cromwell, Connecticut, where precision and aggression can both cash checks. Scheffler’s ball-striking travels, and if the putter wakes up for four days, everyone else may be playing for second.

But this field isn’t exactly handing him the keys.

Wyndham Clark, fresh off winning the U.S. Open for the second time, is sitting at 28/1.

That number is tempting because Clark just survived a brutal week, held off Sam Burns and walked away with another major trophy.

The question is whether he’s emotionally drained or riding the kind of heater that makes another leaderboard run feel inevitable.

Burns, meanwhile, comes in at 23/1 after another close call on a monster stage.

He’s long been known as one of the PGA Tour’s best putters, but his full swing looked far more complete at Shinnecock Hills.

If he carries that form to Connecticut, he’s not just a sentimental bounce-back pick. He’s a real threat.

Xander Schauffele at 14/1 may be the safest name outside Scheffler.

He’s already won at TPC River Highlands, and even when he isn’t sharp, he rarely disappears. Ludvig Åberg at 17/1, Tommy Fleetwood at 18/1 and Matt Fitzpatrick at 22/1 give the board a heavy Ryder Cup flavor with Rory McIlroy skipping the event.

Cameron Young at 20/1 is another fascinating swing. He once fired a 59 here, and when his short game behaves, he can torch this place.

The Travelers Championship may not have major status, but this week feels loaded. Scheffler wants another win. Clark wants to keep the party going. Burns wants payback. At TPC River Highlands, that’s exactly how fireworks start.
