Soriano, Silseth, and Klassen silenced the Giants bats, showcasing a dominant pitching performance that secured the Angels' victory.

The Los Angeles Angels defeated the San Francisco Giants 2-0 in a low-scoring contest on Monday, bringing the club their eighth win in 19 games this spring. The bats may not have been great for either team during the game, but there were some encouraging outings from the Angels’ staff, holding the Giants scoreless in the win.

Right-handed pitcher Jose Soriano got the start and went for five innings while allowing just one hit and striking out four batters. It was his third and best start of the spring after allowing seven runs in his previous two outings. Heading into the 2026 campaign, Soriano’s production will play a vital role in the Halos’ success considering their lack of strength in their rotation. The 27-year-old is coming off a 4.26 ERA and 1.40 WHIP season.

After Soriano’s dominant outing, right-handers Chase Silseth and George Klassen finished off the game for the Angels and kept the Giants with a zero on the scoreboard. Silseth went one inning and allowed one hit, while Klassen finished off the final three frames, allowing two baserunners and striking out two batters.

Klassen has taken the attention of many Angels fans this spring, with his ERA in three games now sitting at just 2.25. Currently ranked as the No. 5 prospect in the Angels’ system by MLB Pipeline, Klassen is doing everything he can to earn a spot on the Opening Day roster. It’s an uphill battle for the 24-year-old, but his major league debut is sure to come during the 2026 season.

There wasn’t much to note from the plate for the Angels, managing only four hits in the contest – outfielder Jorge Soler, Catcher Gabriel Davalillo, shortstop Yolmer Sanchez, and third baseman Oswald Peraza being the four players to log a hit against San Francisco.

Davalillo enters 2026 as the No. 6 prospect in the Angels’ system according to MLB Pipeline after his .302/.408/.518 slash line and .926 OPS in the Dominican Summer League in 2025. At 18 years old, Monday’s knock was Davalillo’s first of the spring in three at-bats.

The Angels are back in action again on Tuesday afternoon, this time against the San Diego Padres at Tempe Diablo Stadium. First pitch is set for 1:10 p.m. PST.
