The Los Angeles Angels took the finale of their four-game set against the Yankees as Trout, Adell, Peraza hit homers.

The Los Angeles Angels took the final game of their four-game set against the New York Yankees, 11-4. as Mike Trout powered the team yet again and manager Kurt Suzuki did a fine job of cobbling together a bullpen game.

The Angels have been hitting homers throughout this series, and today it was Oswald Peraza who got the bomb party off to a good start with a two-run shot off Yankee starter Max Fried. Jo Adell walked before the homer to give the Angels a 2-0 lead.

The shutout didn’t last long, though, as Aaron Judge countered with a solo shot of his own off Brent Suter, who started as the opener in this one. The Yankees took the lead off Nick Sandlin in the third on another Yankee homer by Giancarlo Stanton, who brought home Cody Bellinger after Bellinger walked.

The Angels came back by chasing Fried in the sixth inning as they rallied for four to take a 6-3 lead. Peraza was the hero of this rally as he drove home Trout and Adell with a two-run double, and Vaughn Grissom and Josh Lowe also drove him a run each with a pair of singles.

The Yankees got one run back after that on a Ben Rice homer, but Trout negated that run with a solo shot of his own to make it 7-4.

But New York didn’t stay within range for long as the Angels put up a four-spot in the eighth to nail this one down. The kill shot was delivered by Jo Adell, who got in on the home run derby with a grand slam to produce the final 11-4 count.

The hidden stars of this one were Suzuki and Sam Bachman. Suter and Sandlin were both very shaky early, but the manager used those two relievers along with Sam Aldegheri to get the Angels through five innings. After that Bachman took over and gave the Halos three shutout innings as the offense continued to pound Yankees pitching.

As satisfying as this win was, the Angels have to be kicking themselves after splitting this series. In addition to Trout’s one-man homer barrage, the Angels hit a total of 13 home runs in this series, which is the most all time in any single home series against the Yankees. (Feel free to read that sentence again.) This was a series the Angels should have won at least three games, and they could easily have swept the four-game set.

They'll return home tomorrow night to start a three-game set against the San Diego Padres, with Jose Soriano trying to continue his remarkable pitching run against German Marquez for the Padres.
