Jo Adell's glove work stole the show, robbing three potential homers and stunning broadcasters. A defensive masterclass highlighted the Angels' narrow victory.

The Los Angeles Angels dropped the first game on Friday night in the series against the Seattle Mariners by a score of 3-1.

Saturday's game was another pitcher's duel, and the Angels got the 1-0 win with Jack Kochanowicz going 5.2 innings with seven strikeouts.

The Angels jumped out to a 1-0 lead as Zach Neto hit a leadoff home run in the first at-bat of the bottom of the first for the Angels, and that ended up being the only run to score all game.

However, the story of the game was outfielder Jo Adell.

Adell went just 1-for-3 at the plate, but he dazzled with his glove. The Angels outfielder had three - yes, 3! - home run robberies in the game.

The first came in the first inning against Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh, who has yet to hit a home run this season.

And, Adell even fooled the Mariners radio broadcaster.

The second came in the eighth inning off the bat of Josh Naylor, and the third and final one was in the ninth off the bat of JP Crawford.

The Seattle broadcast was also stunned at the last home run robbery, and Adell even fell into the stands while making the catch.

Here's another angle of Adell's final home run robbery of the game.

All in all, it was a quiet night offensively. The Mariners had just five hits, and the Angels had seven hits, with the only run coming on the first batter of their half of the first inning.

Still, the story was all about Adell, and he spoke about the performance after the win.

"Pretty crazy. Sometimes you gotta help on the other side of the ball, and I'm glad I did my job tonight," Adell said on the field after the win.

Adell said Torii Hunter was sitting by his locker before the game and said maybe it rubbed off on him.

It was a historic night for Adell, with this being the first time a player has robbed three home runs in one game since the stat began to be tracked.

To make it even more impressive, it was a 1-0 win, which means any of these home run robberies could've shifted the game entirely and given Seattle the victory.

Instead, it is the Angels, and it is one of the greatest defensive performances we have seen in a long, long time.

The Angels will try and finish the series with a win in the rubber match on Sunday, but April 4, 2026, will long be remembered as the night of Jo Adell.
