The Los Angeles Angels have high hopes for Tyler Bremner, and he continues to pitch well.

Tyler Bremner is the next young starter who could be joining the Los Angeles Angels rotation in 2027, and his ascent has been rapid. Jason Pennini of Baseball America offered the latest on Bremner’s development in a scouting report from the instructional league, and the results were intriguing to say the least.

Pennini decided to do a comparison report with fellow prospect Gregory Sanchez of the Colorado Rockies, and he called Bremner the “safer pitcher with less relief risk.” That makes sense given that the Angels have been drafting high-level college prospects who are close to being major-league ready for years now, which has depleted a lot of the depth in their farm system.

Bremner is currently ranked No. 67 in the Top 100, and the writer described him as a polished righty with a deep arsenal and a hypnotic lead leg lift that propels him down the mound with good momentum. He’s a plus athlete who’s both balanced and graceful in his delivery, and Bremner’s flat vertical approach angle on his fastball helps it play above its mid-90s velocity, which in turn allows him to gets swings under the baseball or lazy flyouts.

Bremner’s pitching approach is well ahead of his age.  He throws strikes and challenges hitters in the zone. Bremner also likes to pitch backward, and he’s willing and able to go to any pitch at any time.

The right-hander uses a low-80s slider and high-80s cutter to get ahead in counts and induce weak contact. The scout noted that he could see both pitches being effective weapons for turning over a lineup and allowing him to work deep into starts.

Bremner gives hitters a lot to think about in terms of his pitch mix and attacking all part of the zone. Per Pennini, the strengths of his profile are his deep pitch mix, feel for pitching and a willingness to be unpredictable. Bremner also has swing-and-miss stuff, though, so he’s not just a hurler who relies on approach. It's really early to pigeonhole Bremner and put him in this kind of box, but that's what scouts do.

The Angels prospect does have a high floor and a good chance to stick in the rotation, and Pennini has him slotted in as a fourth starter right now. That might be low given where Bremner is currently, but the one thing to watch is durability, as the right-hander has never thrown more than 88-2/3 innings in his young career to date and he might need time at Triple-A to build his innings count.
