Mired in a decade-long postseason drought, Anaheim narrowly escapes the league's basement. Between mounting fan hostility and dismal pitching stats, the Halos face another lost summer under Arte Moreno.

The 2026 season has already brought a lot for Los Angeles Angels fans. Starting with tension between owner Arte Moreno and the fans after Moreno claimed winning wasn't a priority for the fans, hopeful baseball followed by hopeless baseball being played, and now back to tension between Moreno and the fans, you certainly can never call the Angels a boring team.

You can, however, call them a bad team, as they are one of just two clubs in baseball with just 20 wins as of Tuesday morning. With their one fewer loss than the Colorado Rockies, the Angels can celebrate no longer being the worst team in baseball as it stands.

Still, at a 20-34 record, the Angels are again the laughing stock of baseball. 2026 will now be the 11th consecutive year in which there will be no postseason baseball being played in Anaheim.

It’s no wonder that there are “sell the team” chants daily at every Angels’ home game. With an unsuccessful formula being repeated year after year by the front office, it’s no surprise that there hasn't been a winning season for the Angels since 2015.

With all that said, the Halos can take the victory of not being ranked in last place by The Athletic in their latest power rankings. Coming in as the No. 29 team in baseball in back-to-back rankings, the Angels' season is already over.

Ranking in the bottom 10 in runs and OPS, while ranking in the bottom three for strikeouts against and hits, the offense for the Halos has been tough to watch in 2026.

It doesn't get any better when looking at the pitching statistics either. Having the third-highest ERA in the league at 4.81, the lineup is often playing catch-up to make up for the poor pitching. The bullpen is extremely poor, recording a 5.41 ERA on the season.

In May, the Angels allowed 10 or more runs on four different occasions. In contrast, they failed to score 10 or more runs even a single time in the same time frame.

Coming off the back of sweeping the Texas Rangers, perhaps the Angels can grab a little bit of momentum as we head into the summer months to climb their way out of last place in the AL West. Even then, however, the bigger picture will remain the same for the club.

2026 is yet another losing season for the most poorly run club in the MLB. As long as the front office remains content in doing so, it’ll stay this way for a long time. It’s a shame for fans who deserve more than what the higher-ups are willing to give to them.
