Bad Bunny has made headlines in the NFL and recently attempted to make an impact in Major League Baseball with a generous offer.
The World Baseball Classic is approaching, and Astros fans will be disappointed to learn that some of their favorite players are unable to represent their home countries, some due to injury risk and others because of insurance holdups.
Carlos Correa is one of those players. Puerto Rico will have to do without the three-time MLB All-Star shortstop. He was unable to secure WBC-approved insurance coverage for his MLB contract, as insurers deemed him a high-risk due to his prior injuries. Without coverage, he would have risked jeopardizing guaranteed money in his contract if he were injured during the tournament.
However, one of the biggest stars on the planet and a fellow Puerto Rican native made Correa an extremely generous offer. Bad Bunny offered to provide insurance so Correa could participate in the 2026 WBC.
Everyone on Correa’s team advised him not to accept the offer. When the people you trust say no, you listen. Correa ultimately declined. He expressed his appreciation but felt that listening to his team was the right decision.
The same offer was reportedly extended to Francisco Lindor, the New York Mets shortstop and Puerto Rican native. It speaks to how much Bad Bunny cares about his country and its representation on the global stage.
Despite the generous gesture, Correa will not be participating in the 2026 WBC. Keeping him healthy remains a priority, and having him ready for Opening Day will be key for Houston.
