The Houston Astros completed the sweep Sunday afternoon and are now three games above .500 as they maintain the lead in the division. The beginning of the season was looking bleak for Houston, and it looked like they were going to be watching the playoffs from home for two seasons in a row, which would be brutal, especially with a living legend like Yordan Alvarez having an outstanding season.
Every time it looked like Houston was on the upswing, things started to unravel again and again. Now, when it matters most, Houston is right back in it. They're cruising with a six-game winning streak after Sunday's sweep, their longest since 2024.
Sunday's game was another big win, final score 7-3.
Starting pitcher Peter Lambert was on the hill for Houston Sunday afternoon, and he continues to be outstanding for the Astros, giving them length and a great performance.

Jeremy matched a career high with a 14-game hitting streak, setting things up for Yordan Alvarez, who hit a line drive base hit smacked to right field, double number 22 on the year.
Trammell then made one of the best catches of the year, leaping into the wall after running a great distance to secure it.
Alvarez stepped up to the plate and barely made contact with the ball but still made it a base hit. Sometimes that's all you need.
Later, Trammell walked on what should've been a strike, but the Rangers were out of challenges and the umpire's call stood. A few batters later, Altuve hit off the foot of Rocker, and Alvarez ran home, 1-0 Houston.
Peña continued to be on an absolute tear. He launched his 13th homer of the season, a two-run shot. Peña has been the Astros' best hitter since the All-Star break, and this was just the latest reminder why.
The Rangers stepped up in the fifth, making it a one-run game and keeping the pressure on. Through it all, Lambert finished with 5 2/3 innings. Solid, steady, exactly what this team has needed from him all year.
Peña was drilled in the shoulder, and a little in the helmet, at the plate, but remained in the game, a scary moment for the star shortstop.
Nimmo drilled a homer to tie the game in the seventh, keeping the Astros on their toes. But Houston answered right back. Cam Smith drove Trammell home, giving the Astros the lead back in the seventh. Then, after first base wasn't covered, Altuve made it home, and Wade Jr. was safe. Houston capitalized on every mistake Texas gave them.
Yordan Alvarez stepped up with the bases loaded and got another RBI double on a line drive.
Six straight, and their longest winning streak since 2024, as the Astros head into a series against the Toronto Blue Jays Monday night.
