The Houston Astros took on the New York Mets again for another Spring Training matchup. The final score was 8-2 in favor of the Astros.

Yordan Alvarez may not be pleased with spending the majority of the season as a designated hitter, but yesterday he made manager Joe Espada's choice to make Alvarez a DH look like the right call.

Alvarez stepped up to bat in the bottom of the first and smoked one right past the Mets' infield into right field for a base hit, giving Taylor Trammell an opportunity to score and putting Houston ahead at the bottom of the first, 1-0. Alvarez got off to a strong start with an RBI single, making solid contact.

While the Mets' new acquisition, Freddy Peralta, was striking out one Astro after another, Yordan Alvarez was a force to be reckoned with. In the bottom of the sixth, he launched a three-run homer toward right field, sending the ball soaring over the fence as fans rushed to snag it, putting the Astros ahead 4-0.

Combined with his RBI single earlier in the game, Alvarez drove in all four runs, proving why he’s such a vital presence in the lineup.

If the three-run homer wasn't exciting enough, the Astros showcased impressive baserunning, bringing in another run. They got away with an exciting double steal, demonstrating excellent baserunning.

Between Yordan Alvarez hitting bullets and the double steal with Jax Biggers and CJ Alexander, the Astros are shaping up to be a competitive bunch.
