Hall of Famers and Notable Accomplishments cover image

An exciting week for former Astros star Carlos Beltrán and the organization, as he was officially elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame on Tuesday.

With this election, here’s a look at the most notable Astros players in the Hall of Fame, either as Astros or former Astros.

Jeff Bagwell – July 30, 2017

Bagwell was inducted in 2017, known for his power, plate discipline, and baserunning. He’s the only first baseman with 400+ home runs and 200+ stolen bases. An NL MVP and Rookie of the Year, Bagwell was a key part of the Astros’ “Killer B” era with Biggio and Berkman.

Craig Biggio – July 26, 2015

Biggio, inducted in 2015, spent his entire career with the Astros. Renowned for his versatility, he played catcher, second base, and center field. He finished with 3,000+ hits, 600+ doubles, nearly 400 stolen bases, and 291 home runs. Known for his hustle and toughness, he set the record for most hit-by-pitches while playing hard every day.

Joe Morgan – August 6, 1990

Morgan, one of baseball’s greatest second basemen, began his career with the Houston Colt .45s/Astros. He played 10 seasons in Houston, helping them win their first division title in 1980. Later, he starred with the Reds’ “Big Red Machine,” winning two NL MVPs and World Series titles, and became a respected broadcaster.

Nolan Ryan – Inducted 1999

Ryan’s Hall of Fame career spanned 27 seasons, setting MLB records with 5,714 strikeouts and seven no-hitters. Known as “The Ryan Express,” his fastball regularly topped 100 mph. While his velocity sometimes led to control issues, he dominated the mound and left a lasting mark on the Astros and the game.

Billy Wagner – July 27, 2025

Before this week, Wagner was the most recent Astros legend to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, and his number was retired shortly after. 2025 was a huge year for the baseball legend “Billy the Kid.” Known for his triple-digit fastball and intimidating presence on the mound, Wagner quickly became a dominant closer. By the late 1990s, he led all relievers in strikeouts and instilled fear in opposing batters early in his career.

Carlos Beltrán – Elected 2026

Most recently, Carlos Beltrán was elected earlier this week. He is a nine-time All-Star and a three-time Gold Glove winner, accomplishments that highlight his remarkable 20-year career. During his nearly two-decade-long career, he hit .279, with 2,725 hits and 435 home runs. He totaled 1,582 runs and 312 stolen bases, per ESPN.
