Last night, in the third game of the series against the Texas Rangers, Yordan Alvarez hit two homers to secure the win, 4-3. That makes 20 home runs for the slugger so far this season. The Astros have now won the last 5 out of six games thanks to Alvarez's performance last night. One more win tonight, and they can take the series.
Alvarez is now tied for second in the league with 20 home runs, sitting just one behind Kyle Schwarber of the Phillies, who leads MLB with 21. Munetaka Murakami of the White Sox is also at 20, while Aaron Judge of the Yankees and Byron Buxton of the Twins sit at 17.
Alvarez has already clearly been on a heater and hitting a notable number of home runs so far this season, but on top of that, there is something about Globe Life Field that favors Alvarez at the plate. He has hit 17 home runs in 33 games at Globe Life Field, including five in the first three games of this series alone.
Not only that, but he holds the record for the most home runs by any visiting player in the history of the stadium. He is now also the fifth player in Astros history to hit multiple home runs in two consecutive games, joining Jose Altuve, Richard Hidalgo, Moisés Alou, and Doug Rader.

Alvarez continues to be a bright spot in what has been a bleak season for the Astros up until recently. He has done a lot of the heavy lifting for the Astros offense.
Things seem to be looking up for the Astros, as many of their key pitchers return to the mound, and others have really stepped up their performance. Between the pitching staff getting healthy and Yordan Alvarez and Christian Walker crushing it at the plate, the Astros could look like a very different team heading into the second half of the season.
