Spencer Arrighetti takes the mound again for the Houston Astros as they look to take back control of the series against the Red Sox in Boston.
Amid countless pitching struggles, Arrighetti has been a rare bright spot in an increasingly thin rotation. With all of the promising arms Houston entered the season with, it’s the former Triple-A starter who has emerged as the anchor of the staff. Others, like Lance McCullers Jr. and Peter Lambert, have delivered strong outings, but Arrighetti has been the most consistent option, and that’s exactly what this team needs right now.
The difference for Arrighetti has been his ability to command the strike zone. By limiting walks and consistently missing bats, he’s been able to keep opposing lineups from building momentum. He works well under pressure, something he showed against the New York Yankees when he delivered the lone bright spot in a difficult series for Houston, securing the team’s only win while the Astros struggled against one of the league’s top teams.
Once reinforcements like Hunter Brown return from the injured list, there’s reason to believe things could stabilize. But for now, he remains the tone-setter every time he takes the mound for Houston, and after Thursday’s loss, he is again the arm they turn to as they attempt to take back control of the series.
Here is a look at his stats so far this season, per MLB:
2026 Regular SeasonW: 3, L: 0, ERA: 2.00, G: 3, GS: 3, SV: 0, IP: 18.0, SO: 21, WHIP: 1.11
With numbers like these, if he continues to stay poised and consistent, Arrighetti could emerge as a legitimate top-of-the-rotation starter for Houston.
