The Houston Astros’ injury concerns continued Tuesday, as outfielder Taylor Trammell was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left groin strain.
For the Houston Astros, the 2025 season was riddled with injuries, and it eventually led to their season coming to an end earlier than usual.
So far, the 2026 season is looking eerily similar to 2025, as a wave of injuries has already begun to weigh the club down. A large number of pitching injuries have led to early struggles on the mound, and the issue is now affecting other positions as well.
Trammell sustained the left groin strain on April 20 while running to third base during the fourth inning of Houston’s 9-2 win over the Cleveland Guardians in the first game of the series. He was placed on the injured list the following day.
To fill the open roster spot, the Astros called up outfielder Daniel Johnson to the active roster.
Before the injury, Trammell was hitting .345 in 10 games with the Astros, serving as a key depth piece in the outfield, per MLB. He had also provided energy at the plate and versatility defensively, helping Houston navigate its early-season roster challenges.
Houston has relied heavily on organizational depth in recent weeks, and Trammell’s absence creates another challenge for a club still searching for consistency. With a series against the New York Yankees looming, Houston will look to build on its most recent win while continuing to manage a growing list of injuries.
