The Astros have only had one father‑son duo in the history of the franchise, Jose Cruz and Jose Cruz Jr., but now they have brought a Biggio back into the organization, potentially making the Biggio family the second father‑son duo.

Craig Biggio, a Hall of Famer and Houston star, requires no introduction and is considered one of the best baseball players of all time. He played with the Astros from 1988 to 2007. Now his son has a chance to continue the Biggio Astros legacy.

Cavan Biggio, Craig Biggio’s son, recently signed a minor league deal with the Astros that includes an invitation to spring training as a non‑roster player. He went from a bat boy to a player in the organization.

He made his Major League debut with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2019 and appeared in 37 games with the Kansas City Royals in 2025.

This versatile player has appeared at first base, second base, third base, two outfield positions, and as a designated hitter. Last season he hit .174 in 69 at‑bats.

Biggio, who bats left‑handed, has played in 561 Major League games in his career with four teams, including the Blue Jays, Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, and Royals, and holds a career batting average of .223 with 52 home runs and 190 runs batted in per, ESPN.

He will compete for a bench spot with Houston this spring, bringing defensive flexibility and a left‑handed bat to the Astros organization.
