Between his breakout rookie season and earning the World Series MVP title in 2022, Jeremy Peña has been a rock for the Houston Astros. The Dominican Republic native moved to Providence, Rhode Island, with his family in 2006 when he was just nine years old. Peña began playing baseball as a child, but his career took off during his time at Classical High School in Providence.

He was first drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 39th round of the 2015 MLB Draft but chose to continue his college baseball career at the University of Maine. Three years later, the Houston Astros selected him in the 2018 MLB Draft, making his major league debut in 2022.
