A's Gutting Minor Leagues

Bill Moriarity of A's Farm tweeted this out on Thursday night: "Hearing that a number of members of the A's minor league staff were let go today. People in the organization seem reluctant to talk about it, but someone said it seems to have come from "the top" (wherever that is right now) and referred to it as a "purge.""

He then followed up with the list of names he's heard so far: "

Some A's minor league staff who've been let go:

"MiLB Hit Crdntr Todd Takayoshi, Asst Pitch Crdntr Craig Lefferts, Pitch Rehab Cdntr Bryan Corey, Catch Crdntr Gabe Ortiz, OF Crdntr Kevin Kuntz, Lansing Hit coach Ron Witmeyer,ACL A's coaches Craig Conklin/Ruben Escalera/John Foster."

These moves are all obviously after the firing of pitching coach Scott Emerson at the All-Star break and GM David Forst right after the trade deadline. Big changes for the A's entering a pivotal offseason.
