Jeffrey Springs Leaves Start Early

With two on and one out in the second inning of Sunday's start in Minnesota, A's left-hander left the game due to injury. His final pitch ended with a little hop step that seemed to show some discomfort, and before Jonah Heim could throw him the ball back, Springs signaled to the dugout to come check on him. 

Dallas Braden noted that Springs has been dealing with some lower half injuries. 

Right-hander Luis Morales came in out of the bullpen in the second inning and will be looking to earn a spot in the rotation moving forward. With J.T. Ginn on the IL with a blister issue, Mason Barnett was used as the bulk guy on Saturday. Morales is the other option to consider for a rotation spot, if Springs is to miss time. 

The A's placed Shea Langeliers on the IL on Sunday morning, less than 24 hours after getting Nick Kurtz back in the lineup.
