Luis Severino to IL

The A's have placed Luis Severino on the IL, though the roster move they decided to make doesn't give us any indication of who will be replacing him in the starting rotation just yet. That may come when today's game notes area released.

The reason for this is because they have not formally announced a starting pitcher for Sunday's game against the New York Yankees. Jacob Lopez figures to be the bulk guy, but whether the A's plan to use an opener — and who it would be — are the remaining questions.

Luis Medina received the opening role last time out, though he tossed an inning on Friday.

The most likely option to take Severino's spot in the rotation in Jack Perkins, who is already on the MLB roster. I also wrote about the rest of the A's options this morning.

Who do you think the A's should add to the rotation?
