Ty France, who's been nursing an oblique injury, will be eligible to be activated off the injured list for the ALDS

For the first time in history, American League East rivals the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees will meet in the postseason.

The Blue Jays are set to host the Yankees in Game 1 of a best-of-five American League Divisional Series at 4:08 p.m. ET on Saturday at Rogers Centre in Toronto.

New York will be coming off a three-game wild card series win against another AL East rival, the Boston Red Sox, and Toronto will be coming off a bye that it earned by clinching the No. 1 seed in the AL.

The Blue Jays will be looking to make their first American League Championship Series since 2016 and first World Series since 1993, and they could get a boost to the roster in the form of a one-time All-Star.

First baseman Ty France has been out since Sept. 23 due to left oblique inflammation. He was activated off the injured list Sept. 29.

According to a report on "X" from The Athletic's Toronto beat writer, Mitch Bannon, France competed in the club's intersquad scrimmage Thursday.

France received one at-bat during the scrimmage, which ended in a seven-pitch flyout against starting pitcher Max Scherzer.

France, who was named an All-Star in 2022 for the Seattle Mariners when they broke their then-21-year postseason drought, was acquired by the Blue Jays in a trade with the Minnesota Twins on July 31.

Across the entire season with both teams, France has scored 50 runs in 138 games and has hit 25 doubles and seven home runs with 52 RBIs. He slashed .257/.320/.360 with a .680 OPS.

With Toronto, France crossed home plate nine times in 37 games. He hit six doubles and a home run with eight RBIs and slashed .277/.320/.372 with a .692 OPS.

If France is able to return for the ALDS, he would provide depth for the Blue Jays at first base and designated hitter, which would allow the team to give franchise superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. breaks from playing the field.
