Jo Adell just accomplished something not seen since Ezequiel Carrera in 2016.
Former Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Ezequiel Carrera got some company in unique baseball history on Wednesday afternoon.
Jo Adell of the Cleveland Guardians hit a triple against the Chicago White Sox in Game 3 of the American League Division Series, marking his second straight game with a triple. As noted by MLB Stats on social media, Adell is the first player since Carrera in 2016 to have triples in consecutive postseason games.
Adell's Guardians beat the White Sox to force a Game 4 at Rate Field on Thursday. The White Sox lead the series 2-1 and are trying to advance to the ALCS for the first time since 2005.
About Carrerra
Now 39 years old, Carrera spent parts of seven years in the big leagues with the Guardians, Philadelphia Phillies, Detroit Tigers and Blue Jays, last playing in 2017.
Lifetime, he was a .262 hitter with 19 homers, 97 RBIs and 44 stolen bases.
His best year came in 2017 when he played in 131 games for Toronto, hitting .282 with a .356 on-base percentage. Despite that solid year, he was released in March of 2018 and never got another big league chance.
He was part of both the 2015 and 2016 Blue Jays teams that went to the ALCS, losing both. In the 2016 run, he hit .303 in the playoffs with those two triples, a homer and three RBIs. He posted a .343 on-base percentage in that run as well.

Well the Blue Jays, like all of us, are just waiting for the playoffs to finish out. At that point, the business of baseball can really start.
Five days after the World Series is when free agency officially opens. At that point, we will have about one month to handle baseball business until the probable lockout takes hold on Dec. 2.
If and when a lockout hits, there will be almost no baseball business at all, though the Rule-5 Minor League Draft will happen.
It will be very curious to see how the Blue Jays handle the one month between the end of the season and the lockout. They could be super aggressive, and try to sign players under the current financial rules, or they could be more passive and wait to see how exactly how the financial rules looking moving forward. It's still unclear if there will be a salary cap system.
