The World Baseball Classic began Friday and the Blue Jays have several representatives on Day 1 of the international tournament
The 2026 World Baseball Classic has officially began and the Toronto Blue Jays had several players take part in Friday's games at various locations in Houston; Tokyo; San Juan, Puerto Rico and Miami.
The Blue Jays had nine players representing as many countries on March 6.
Here's an overview of those players and how they did in the international tournament.
Kazuma Okamoto, 3B, Japan
One of Toronto's latest free agency signings, Kazuma Okamoto, had solid performance in Samurai Japan's 13-0, seventh-inning win against Chinese Taipei at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo.
Okamoto went 1-for-4 with an RBI and helped turn a double play.
Yariel Rodriguez, RP, Cuba
Rodriguez was one of two Toronto players to compete in the game between Cuba and Panama Friday at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan.
He pitched 2.1 innings in relief, struck out three batters and didn't allow a hit or a free base.
Leo Jimenez, SS, Panama
Jimenez was the other Blue Jays representative in the game between Cuba and Panama. He went 0-for-3, struck out once and drew a walk.
Andres Gimenez, SS/2B, Venezuela
Gimenez, who played both middle infield positions in Venezuela's 6-2 win against the Netherlands at loanDepot Park in Miami, went 1-for-2, scored a run and drew a walk.
Alejandro Kirk, C, Mexico
The 2025 All-Star catcher helped navigate defending bronze medalists, Mexico's, pitching staff to a strong showing in an 8-2 win against Great Britain at Daikin Park in Houston.
Kirk went 0-for-4 in the team's win.
Will Cresswell, C, Great Britain
Cresswell, who's the backup for former top 100 prospect Harry Ford on Great Britain, didn't receive any playing time in Great Britain's loss against Mexico.
Ismael Munguia, OF, Nicaragua
Munguia was one of the few bright spots for Nicaragua in a 12-3 loss against the Dominican Republic at loanDepot Park.
Munguia went 2-for-3, which included an RBI single in the top of the first inning that gave Nicaragua the initial lead.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr., 1B, Dominican Republic
Toronto's franchise superstar and defending American League Championship MVP, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., made an impact on the scoreboard in the Dominican Republic's dominant showing against Nicaragua.
Guerrero went 1-for-4, including a double, with a run and three RBIs. His three RBIs came via a groundout, a sacrifice fly and his double.
Ernie Clement, 3B/LF, United States
Clement, who's coming off a year where he set the MLB record for most amount of hits in a single postseason, was unable to get any at-bats in Team USA's 15-5 drumming against Brazil at Daikin Park.
Clement did register playing time in left field for Team USA.
