Daz Cameron was once a star prospect with the Houston Astros and Detroit Tigers.
After leaving Friday night's victory against the New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has landed on the 7-day concussion injured list.
As noted by the team, former top prospect Daz Cameron has taken his place on the active roster and right-handed pitcher Lazaro Estrada has been designated for assignment.

About Guerrero
One of the most feared hitters in baseball for years, Guerrero is having a down season in 2026. The six-time All-Star and MVP of last year's ALCS has a respectable .263 batting average, but he has just seven home runs and 46 RBIs. His OPS+ of 91 suggests he's been a below average hitter this season.
And his regression has happened in an unfortunate year for the Jays. Coming off a trip to the World Series in 2025, Toronto was expected to compete for a championship this year. At 60-64, the Jays have been a major disappointment, but they do still have playoff aspirations, as they are just one game back in the American League wild card race entering play on Saturday.
Guerrero is a .286 lifetime hitter with 190 home runs. He has two Silver Slugger Awards.
As for Daz Cameron
The son of former major league All-Star Mike Cameron, Daz was a first-round draft pick of the Houston Astros in the 2015 MLB Draft. He was traded to the Tigers in the deal that sent Justin Verlander to Detroit and has struggled to find a consistent home in the big leagues.
Cameron made his major league debut with Detroit in 2020 and has played in 160 career games with the Tigers, Oakland Athletics and Milwaukee Brewers. He's a .200 career hitter with 11 home runs. He played in the KBO earlier this year, hitting .287 with nine home runs in 75 games.
As for the matchup
The Blue Jays are taking on the Yankees for Game 2 of a three-game set at Rogers Centre. New York has dropped two consecutive games, but sends Cy Young contender Cam Schlittler to the mound against opener Braydon Fisher.
Schlittler is 10-6 with a 2.21 ERA.
In exciting news, the Blue Jays have called up former top prospect Ricky Tiedemann for his major league debut. The left-hander is still just 23 years old, and has featured electric stuff throughout his minor league career. He's had a problem staying healthy, but his long road back finally culminates in a trip to the majors.
