The defending World Series champions added another multi-time All-Star to its roster

The top free agent remaining on the open market has found a destination and it's not with the Toronto Blue Jays. Instead, it's with the team that beat the Blue Jays in the World Series.

Four-time All-Star outfielder Kyle Tucker, who was considered the top target for the Blue Jays in free agency, signed with the two-time defending World Series champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers, on Jan. 15.

According to a report on "X" from ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan, the deal between Tucker and the Dodgers is worth four-years, $240 million with opt-outs after the second and third seasons. FanSided MLB insider Robert Murray was the first to report the deal.

Toronto had reportedly been in the mix for Tucker for the entire winter. He took a visit to the organization's spring training complex in Jupiter, Fla., in December.

Tucker made his major league debut in 2018 with the Houston Astros and remained with the team through 2024. He was traded to the Chicago Cubs last offseason.

This past year with Chicago, Tucker slashed .266/.377/.464 with an .841 OPS in 136 games. He hit 25 doubles, four triples and 22 home runs with 73 RBIs.

For his career, Tucker has slashed .273/.358/.507 with an .865 OPS across 769 career games. He's hit 160 doubles, 20 triples and 147 homers with 490 RBIs.

Tucker has been named an All-Star the last four seasons (2022-25), won the World Series with the Astros in '22, was named second-team All-MLB in '21, won two Silver Sluggers in '23 and '25 and won a Gold Glove award in '22.

The Blue Jays have been one of the most active teams in free agency this winter but have failed to close the deal on many top reported targets.

Toronto was reported to be in the running for Tucker, third baseman Alex Bregman and shortstop Bo Bichette. Bregman signed a five-year deal with the Cubs earlier this week.

Bichette has spent his entire major league career with the Blue Jays but it's been reported a reunion has become more unlikely. The New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies have been the main teams reported to still have interest in Bichette.

Outside of the aforementioned targets, the Blue Jays have managed to add to their organization this season. They added to their starting rotation by signing free-agent pitchers Dylan Cease (seven years, $210 million) and Cody Ponce (three years, $30 million); bolstered its bullpen with a three-year, $37 million contract with right-hander Tyler Rogers and brought in third baseman Kazuma Okamoto on a four-year, $60 million deal.
