After dropping the final two games of a four-game series against the Baltimore Orioles, the Toronto Blue Jays enter Monday's off day at 29-31 and heading to Atlanta for a Tuesday-Thursday series with the World Series contending Atlanta Braves (40-20).

The first 60 games of the season have been marred by injury for the Jays, as they've missed several key players for large swaths of time.

As Blue Jays fans well know by now, Bowden Francis and Jose Berrios are out for the season after not appearing in a single game. Cody Ponce made just one start before going down with a season-ending injury and Anthony Santander might miss the entire season.

Shane Bieber has yet to appear in a game as he battles back from forearm fatigue and Max Scherzer, George Springer, Trey Yesavage, Dylan Cease, Addison Barger and Alejandro Kirk have all spent time on the injured list, with Barger and Kirk missing most of the season as well.

In the case of Bieber and Scherzer, they are working their ways back, and both made rehab appearances on Sunday - with mixed results.

As stated above, Bieber has missed the entire season thus far with "forearm fatigue," likely related to his Tommy John procedure in 2024. The 31-year-old missed most of the 2024 campaign and the first half of 2025 before coming back to make seven regular season appearances for the Jays. He pitched well, going 4-2 with a 3.57 ERA and then made five postseason appearances totaling 18.2 innings, but evidently the workload was too stressful for his arm.

He's now made two rehab appearances for Single-A Dunedin, with Sunday's not going particularly well. In just 2.1 innings, he gave up six hits and five earned runs, also surrendering a home run. He struck out two.

The Blue Jays haven't put a full timeline on his return, but he'll clearly need to build up his pitch count and innings workload before he can be a major league option.

The future Hall of Famer has also been battling forearm issues, but things were good for him on Sunday at Triple-A Buffalo. He tossed three scoreless innings, walking two and striking out four.

At the major league level, he's just 1-3 with a 9.64 ERA this season. That said, the Blue Jays could use him when he's ready to return. The team is currently operating with Yesavage, Kevin Gausman and Patrick Corbin in the rotation, with multiple openers and bulk relievers taking the other two starts a week.
