Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is up for another edition of the American League defensive honor, but he's not the only one on the Jays roster getting praised for their glove work.

The Toronto Blue Jays will take the field on Wednesday night at T-Mobile Park in Seattle with designs on getting back into the best-of-seven American League Championship Series.

They currently trail 2-0 in the series after consecutive disappointing losses at Rogers Centre, but they do go into Seattle with some confidence, having swept the Mariners there in May.

But beyond the team implications, Wednesday was also an important day individually for several Jays players who were nominated for American League Gold Glove awards.

Alejandro Kirk, catcher

The 26-year-old was an All-Star for the second time this season and his nine errors actually led American League catchers. That said, he threw out 19.8 percent of baserunners stealing and also had two pickoffs.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Ty France first base

This is a bit surprising to see, considering France was acquired by the Blue Jays around the trade deadline, limiting his exposure to the position once he got there. In total, he played 124 games at first base this season, posting a .996 fielding percentage. He made only three errors.

As for Guerrero, he's won a Gold Glove before. He made nine errors in 133 games, posting a .991 fielding percentage.

Andres Gimenez, second base

A three-time Gold Glove winner and a Platinum Glove winner, Gimenez continued his stellar glovework North of the Border. Traded from the Cleveland Guardians last offseason, Gimenez, played just 87 games at second base while also spending 15 at shortstop. He committed just two errors at second and had a .994 fielding percentage.

Ernie Clement, third base

Also a finalist last season, Clement played 89 games at third base this season, making just four errors and posting a .979 fielding percentage at the position.

Those were the only Jays nominated. Daulton Varsho won a Gold Glove in 2024, but was not on the list this year, as Julio Rodriguez, Kyle Isbel and Ceddanne Rafaela took the nominations in center field.

As for the Jays on the field? First pitch is set for 8:08 p.m. ET on Wednesday. Shane Bieber pitches against George Kirby.
