The Toronto Blue Jays injury concerns continue to make a positive turn for the better.

Ahead of the first of a three-game series against the New York Yankees, the Blue Jays activated 2025 All-Star catcher Alejandro Kirk off the 60-day injured list.

Toronto also recalled outfielder Davis Schneider from the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons.

Kirk has been out since April 4 due to a left thumb fracture he suffered after taking a foul ball off his glove hand while catching.

Both players will be available for the Blue Jays' game against the Yankees, which is set to start at 7:37 p.m. ET on Friday.

Kirk will hit in the cleanup spot in the lineup and start at catcher and Schneider will bat eighth and play in left field.

Kirk's return represents continued fortune on the injury front after the team has spent the first half of the season plagued with various ailments. Starting pitchers Dylan Cease and Max Scherzer returned to the rotation for the team's previous series against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Kirk played just five games before landing on the injured list. He slashed .150/.227/.350 with a .577 OPS and hit a double and a home run with two RBIs.

Toronto sent Kirk on a rehab assignment June 3.

In six games with the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays and Bisons, Kirk slashed .167/.286/.389 with a .675 OPS and hit a double and a homer with an RBI.

Schneider broke camp with the Blue Jays but was optioned to Buffalo on May 25.

The 27-year-old outfielder has slashed .127/.295/.211 with a .506 OPS and has hit three doubles and a home run with eight RBIs in 38 games this season. In Triple-A, Schneider has slashed .188/.550/.219 with a .769 OPS in 14 games and has hit a double with four RBIs.

Toronto will enter the series against New York third in the American League East with a 33-36 record and are nine games behind the Tampa Bay Rays for first place in the division.

The Blue Jays are also 1.5 games behind the Texas Rangers for the third and final wild card spot in the American League. A series win against the Yankees would likely put Toronto back in the playoff picture with a chance to carry that momentum into a long stretch.

Trey Yesavage, Kevin Gausman and Patrick Corbin will start games one, two and three, respectively, in the series against the Yankees.
