As expected, the Toronto Blue Jays have named former big-league catcher Joe Siddall as the primary broadcast booth replacement for former catcher/manager Buck Martinez, who announced his retirement earlier this offseason.
As announced by Sportsnet, Dan Shulman will be the television play-by-play man again, with Siddall taking the reigns on the color commentary. Hazel Mae and Arden Zwelling will serve as sideline reporters.
Jamie Campbell, Caleb Joseph and Madison Shipman will work in the studio. Ben Nicholson-Smith and Shi Davidi will provide insight and the radio duties will be handled by Ben Shulman and Chris LeRoux.
This is the 50th season of Blue Jays baseball, as the team began play in 1977.
The Toronto Sun reported last week that Siddall is expected to handle 125-130 games in the booth.
Siddall, who split time between the studio and game telecasts last season as he filled in for Martinez when he was on medical leave, will work alongside play-by-play man extraordinaire Dan Shulman for between 125-130 games this season.
A native of Windsor, Ontario, Siddall played his college baseball at Central Michigan University, making his major league debut in 1993. He spent parts of four seasons in the big leagues with the Montreal Expos, Florida Marlins and Detroit Tigers, appearing in 73 career games and hitting .169 with one home run.
He's 58 years old.
A true pillar of the Blue Jays over the last 50 years, Martinez played six years for the team and spent parts of two years managing it. He's broadcast games for the Jays, ESPN, the World Baseball Classic and the Baltimore Orioles.
The team announced that he'll be inducted into the new Hall of Excellence this August 29. The Hall of Excellence will elevate the current Level of Excellence.
Toronto opens up the season on March 27 against the Athletics and the pitching matchup is now set. The Blue Jays will throw Kevin Gausman, who's in the fifth year of a five-year deal signed before the 2022 season. The A's have announced that Luis Severino will get the ball.
While Severino had a disappointing year overall in 2025, he was excellent on the road, going 6-2 with a 3.02 ERA. He also pitched well for the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic, owning a 2.45 ERA in two appearances.
The A's finished fourth in the AL West last season.
