The present has been frustrating for Jays fans, but the 1992 and 1993 teams will always be looked at with true nostalgia.
Entering play on Saturday, the Toronto Blue Jays are 45-52 and in last place in the American League East. Furthermore, they are 3.5 games back of the third and final wild card spot as they try to keep any semblance of playoff hopes alive.
But while the present has been frustrating, the past is always looked at fondly, and the Blue Jays will unveil a new commemorative statue outside Rogers Centre in advance of Saturday's game against the White Sox.
As noted by popular broadcaster John Fanta, fans gathered out front of Rogers Centre several hours early to wait for the unveiling of the Joe Carter statue that will commemorate the 1992 and 1993 title teams.
As was announced in February, the Carter statue is being placed between Gates 5 and 6, and will pay homage to his walk-off home run to win the 1993 World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies.
About Joe Carter
A 16-year veteran, Carter spent seven years in Toronto, serving as a key member of both World Series teams. His walk-off home run in Game 6 of the 1993 series is one of the biggest hits in baseball history.
He had six postseason home runs for his career to go along with 20 RBIs. He was a .252 hitter in October and was also a five-time All-Star for his career. He also won two Silver Slugger Awards.
A career .259 hitter, he had 396 home runs and 231 stolen bases. He had six seasons of 30 home runs or more and was one of the first true position player stars for the Jays, paving the way for the likes of Carlos Delgado, Vernon Wells and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. He paired with George Bell to make quite a tandem at the beginning of his Jays tenure.

--Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has yet to hit a home run in his home ballpark this season, a stretch spanning 45 games. Believe it or not, that's the eighth-longest home homerless drought for a Blue Jays player to start the season in franchise history. Here's a look at some of the names in front of him.
--The Blue Jays and White Sox will play again on Saturday at 3:07 p.m. ET. Right-hander Shane Bieber will pitch for Toronto while young right-hander Davis Martin goes for Chicago. The White Sox currently lead the AL Central.
