Oct. 24 is one of the biggest days in team history.

Oct. 23, 1993 is one of the biggest days in Toronto Blue Jays history. As we covered, that's the day that Joe Carter hit a walk-off home run in Game 6 of the 1993 World Series to earn the Jays their second consecutive World Series title.

It's arguably the biggest hit in franchise history, and it's one of the most memorable hits in baseball history.

But, don't forget about Oct. 24, 1992, which is also one of the biggest days in franchise history. That's the day that the Blue Jays won their first-ever title, defeating the Atlanta Braves. That made them the first Canadian team to ever win the World Series.

Here's more of what you need to know.

About the 1992 Blue Jays

This Blue Jays team went 96-66, finishing first in the American League East. At this point, there was no American League Central, so the Eastern Division consisted of the Blue Jays, Milwaukee Brewers, Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland, New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox.

At this time, the Tampa Bay Rays didn't exist and the Brewers were in the American League. The Los Angeles Angels were still called the California Angels. And the A's were still in Oakland.

Carter, the hero from 1993, led the Jays in homers with 34 while future Hall of Famer Dave Winfield had 26. Roberto Alomar hit .310 while Winfield hit .290 and John Olerud hit .284. On the pitching side, a veteran Jack Morris led the majors in wins by going 21-6. Jimmy Key (13), Juan Guzman (16), Todd Stottlemyre (12) all won double-digit games. David Cone was on this team, going 4-6, and Dave Stieb went 4-6 as well.

Tom Henke was the team's closer, leading the way with 34. Duane Ward, a hero of 1993, had a 1.95 ERA also.

As for the playoffs

There was no wild card round and there was no division series, so getting to the World Series was "easier" from that perspective. There were less games to win en route to the title. The Jays toppled the Athletics in six games in the American League Championship Series before beating the Braves in six games in the World Series.

Toronto lost the first game of the World Series before winning the next three. The Braves won Game 5 and the Jays won Game 6 by a score of 4-3. The two teams were tied 2-2 in the 11th inning when the Jays scored two runs to take a 4-2 lead. They surrendered one run, but still won 4-3.
