Frank Hermann will join the Yankees, who did some restructuring over the weekend.
Over the weekend, the New York Yankees did some front office restructuring, letting go of front office advisors Omar Minaya and Brian Sabean. Both of them had significant front office experience, with Sabean serving as the Giants general manager for years as they were winning World Series titles.
The Yankees let some others go as well, but someone they brought in? Former MLB pitcher Frank Hermann, who had been working in the front office for the Toronto Blue Jays. When he was hired, it was noted that he'd work in scouting, player development and baseball operations for the Jays.
He'll be the supervisor for global evaluation/player development integration in New York.
It's unclear just how big a loss this will be for Toronto, but you never like seeing good people that you've hired poached by your division rivals.
Hermann, 42, was a four-year player with the Cleveland Guardians and Philadelphia Phillies. He appeared in 109 games, going 5-3 with a 4.72 ERA. He was a perfect 4-0 in 2011.
A New Jersey native, he played his college ball at Harvard.

Monday is a big day for Toronto for multiple reasons:
1) Monday is the day that the Blue Jays have to make contract decisions on multiple players. Will they pick up the $8 million team option on outfielder Myles Straw? And will they extend a one-year qualifying offer to any free agents, most likely Shane Bieber? They have until 5 p.m. ET to make those decisions.
2) Furthermore, the Blue Jays need to be in 40-man roster compliance by 5 p.m. ET also. Toronto already is, as it has 38 players on the 40-man. However, because of that, the Jays could be in a position to add two players if they want to from teams who are racing to get into compliance themselves.
3) Once the 40-man rosters are set, free agency will officially begin at 5 p.m. ET also. The Blue Jays have been linked to sluggers Seiya Suzuki and Teruaki Sato, while also getting linked to pitcher Hiromi Itoh.
4) And finally, the American League Gold Glove Awards were announced on Sunday night. The Blue Jays had five nominees for the awards, but ultimately came up short. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. probably had the best chance at first base, but he was beaten out by Christian Walker of the Houston Astros. We examined that situation a little more here.
