A pair of injured players have returned to the roster as the Jays look to beat the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.
After suffering a historically lopsided loss against the Chicago Cubs on Friday afternoon, the Toronto Blue Jays have made multiple roster moves before Saturday's contest at Wrigley Field.
As noted by Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet, the Jays have brought back Daulton Varsho and Lazaro Estrada from the injured list. Charles McAdoo and Brendon Little have gone back to Triple-A Buffalo.
Little gave up four earned runs in Friday's 16-2 loss, continuing his struggles at the major league level. McAdoo went 4-for-25 with a home run and three RBIs in limited action.
The Blue Jays enter play at 37-39 and one game back of the third and final wild card spot in the American League playoff picture.
About Varsho
He had been on the injured list with wrist discomfort but comes back amid a decent offensive season. Now 29 years old, Varsho is hitting .256 with five homers, 17 RBIs and five stolen bases. He's carrying an OPS+ of 100, suggesting he's been exactly league average. But the power is real.
A seven-year veteran of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Blue Jays, Varsho is a career .229 hitter with 104 home runs. He had a career-high 27 homers in 2022 and added 20 for Toronto last season. He also won a Gold Glove Award in 2024 for his work in centerfield.

A 27-year-old native of Cuba, Estrada has thrown in one game this season. He struck out three in four innings on April 4 and then promptly went on the 60-day injured list, just another pitching injury for a group that already has seen Bowden Francis, Jose Berrios and Cody Ponce be lost for the season and Max Scherzer, Shane Bieber, Trey Yesavage and Dylan Cease all miss time.
Estrada has made three total appearances in his career, pitching to a 5.56 ERA.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday afternoon with first pitch at 2:20 p.m. ET. Left-hander Patrick Corbin will take the mound against right-hander Collin Rea. Corbin is 2-3 with a 4.57 ERA while Rea is 5-5 with a 5.35.
