The Toronto Blue Jays made a series of roster moves on Tuesday to reduce their spring training roster.
The team sent left-handed pitcher Adam Macko to Triple-A and also sent Fernando Perez and Gage Stanifer to minor league camp. Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports that he expects both of them to start the season at Double-A New Hampshire.
Stanifer was just ranked as the No. 6 prospect in the organization by MLB Pipeline while Perez was No. 16.
Stanifer is one of the more exciting pitching prospects in the organization.
A 25-year-old native of Slovakia, Macko was drafted in the seventh round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Seattle Mariners. The Mariners traded him to Toronto before the 2023 season for outfielder Teoscar Hernandez.
Macko has yet to make his major league debut, going 15-26 in the minors with a 4.53 ERA. He went 3-9 in 2025 with a 4.76, pitching mostly at Triple-A Buffalo.
He actually threw a scoreless inning against the Blue Jays on Tuesday while pitching as a member of Team Canada. Macko will represent Canada in the upcoming World Baseball Classic, which begins later this week.
The 22-year-old Indianapolis native reached as high as Double-A last season, making two appearances at that level. In 27 total appearances between Single-A, High-A and Double-A, he went 8-6 with a 2.86 ERA. He struck out 161 batters in 110.0 innings, starting 16 games but also earning four saves.
Now 22 years old, Perez was signed at the 2022 international signing period out of Nicaragua. The right-hander made 26 appearances in 2025, going 6-7 with a 3.04 ERA. He tossed 121.1 total innings, starting 26 times. He made six appearances at Double-A, going 0-3 with a 3.00 ERA. Like Stanifer, he could be an option for the Jays in 2026, though the team currently has a deep rotation and a bevy of bullpen options as well.

The tournament begins March 5 and will run through March 17. Japan, the Dominican Republic and the United States are the favorites.
The Blue Jays open up the regular season on March 27 against the Athletics.
