The Blue Jays will take on the Chicago Cubs in the annual event.
The Toronto Blue Jays are still in firm control of their own destiny for the playoffs.
Despite losing a game, and the series, with an 8-3 defeat at the hands of the New York Yankees on Sunday, the Blue Jays 64-68 and just 1.5 games out of the final American League wild card spot.
The Texas Rangers and Cleveland Guardians are the only two teams ahead of Toronto in the standings and are tied for the final wild card spot.
Even with the Blue Jays' season still in their own hands, it's a far cry from the expectations the team had going into this season coming off a World Series berth last season, their first American League pennant since 1993.
Toronto's step back this season has a lot to due with injuries and regressions, and there's optimism that the Blue Jays will be able to bounce back next season with a full offseason to get healthy (barring a potential lockout due to MLB and MLB Players Association Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations).
If the Blue Jays will turn it around in 2027, it will have at least one national game on one of the most unique stages that the MLB has.
Based on a recent announcement, Toronto will play the Chicago Cubs at the 2027 Little League Classic on Aug. 19, 2027.
The annual event coincides with the Little League World Series and provides major leaguers and managers the chance to interact with little leaguers, often taking part in some of the trademark events, such as sliding down the hill at Bowman Field in Williamsport, Pa.
The event began in 2017 and has continued every single year since with the exception of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The '27 Little League Classic will mark the Blue Jays' first time competing in the classic and the Cubs' second. Chicago was a part of the third Little League Classic in 2019, where it beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-1.
