The Atlanta Braves announced four roster moves before Thursday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Atlanta has performed well this season, and the ball club is looking to continue to play at a high level. They are hopeful that their latest roster moves will make a significant impact moving forward.

The Braves selected catcher Austin Wynns to the MLB roster and designated catcher Chadwick Tromp for assignment. Additionally, the team selected outfielder DaShawn Keirsey Jr. to the big league roster and optioned him to Triple-A. Meanwhile, veteran catcher Sean Murphy was transferred to the 60-day injured list.

Wynns, 35, previously appeared in 14 games with the Athletics in 2026. He was later released and ended up with the Los Angeles Angels. The Angels ultimately traded him to the Braves on Thursday.

Wynns has plenty of big league experience, as he made his MLB debut during the 2018 campaign. He holds a career slash line of .231/.276/.347 at the MLB level.

Tromp, 31, appeared in 12 games with Atlanta this season. He hit .200/.192/.240 during that span.

He is a veteran catcher who has played in MLB since 2020, so perhaps he will receive another opportunity with a big league ball club soon. The Braves, however, are headed in a different direction.

Keirsey, 29, spent 2024 and 2025 with the Minnesota Twins. He has 80 total games of big league experience. As for Murphy, he is continuing to recover from an injury. Updates on his status will continue to be provided as they are made available.

Atlanta currently holds a 2-0 lead against the Blue Jays in their three-game series. The Braves have the best record in the entire sport with a 42-20 mark. It has been a tremendous season for the team without question. 

As for the Blue Jays, they are in fourth place in the American League East standings with a 29-33 overall record. Toronto is looking to find more consistency after they reached the World Series a season ago.

The Braves are hoping to clinch a series sweep against the Blue Jays at home on Thursday. Of course, that will be easier said than done. The Blue Jays still feature a talented roster despite their up and down performance this year.

First pitch for the Blue Jays and Braves clash on Thursday night is scheduled for 7:15 PM EST in Atlanta.
