Carlos Carrasco made a big decision on Thursday.

The Atlanta Braves recently designated veteran starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco for assignment once again. After clearing waivers and being outrighted to Triple-A, Carrasco has reportedly elected free agency, according to Lindsay Crosby.

The 39-year-old initially joined the Braves after being traded to Atlanta from the New York Yankees in 2025. He struggled and was designated for assignment and ultimately elected free agency. He ended up re-signing with the Braves, however. During the offseason, Carrasco once again signed a minor league contract with the ball club.

In late April of this year, Carrasco was once again designated for assignment and he ended up electing free agency and re-signing with Atlanta. After being designated for assignment once again in early May and electing free agency, will he return to the Braves for another opportunity? Only time will tell.

The veteran pitcher appeared in a total of two games with the Braves in 2026. He did not allow a run during that span.

Carrasco is one of the more respected players around the game. Even if he does not receive another opportunity with Atlanta, it would not be surprising to see him sign elsewhere. He will likely at least receive a minor league opportunity if he is open to it.

For now, it remains to be seen if Carlos Carrasco will return to Atlanta once again. At this point, it would not be surprising.

Braves Looking to Continue Playing Well in 2026

The Braves are currently tied with the New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs for the best record in all of MLB. Atlanta has enjoyed a stellar season to say the least.

However, they are set to play the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road this weekend. Although LA does not have baseball's best record right now, the Dodgers are probably still the World Series favorite given how much talent they have on their roster.

Earning a series victory on the road in Los Angeles is never a simple task. With the way Atlanta has played this season, however, they will not be intimidated. This Braves ball club is ready for any challenge.

It should be a competitive series between two of the best teams in the National League. The three-game series is set to begin on Friday night at Dodger Stadium. First pitch is scheduled 10:10 PM EST as the Braves look to continue playing well during the 2026 season.
