When will Lopez make his next start for the Braves?

The Atlanta Braves received an important update on Friday. According to Mark Bowman, starting pitcher Reynaldo Lopez -- who is currently serving a five-game suspension after the Braves and Los Angeles Angels benches clearing brawl from earlier in the week -- will make his next scheduled start on Tuesday.

Bowman also reports that Grant Holmes will start on Monday and Bryce Elder will start on Wednesday. It seems as if Atlanta will be able to get into a normal rotation flow once again after Lopez's return.

The Braves and Miami Marlins are currently tied for the lead in the National League East with 8-5 records overall. They are both one game ahead of the 7-6 New York Mets.

Atlanta will host the Cleveland Guardians in a three-game series from Friday through Sunday this weekend. The ball club will then host the Miami Marlins next week. Lopez will make his next start on Tuesday against the Marlins.

It should be a competitive series. Miami has out-performed expectations up to this point in the season. They are not expected to contend for the full year, but anything can happen. At the very least, the Marlins have played fairly well so far in 2026.

Reynaldo Lopez Set to Return vs. Marlins Next Week

The Braves have received an impressive performance from Lopez so far this year. With starters such as Spencer Strider and Spencer Schwellenbach out due to injury, Lopez has stepped up and pitched well.

Through three starts, the Braves pitcher has recorded a 1.15 ERA across 15.2 innings on the mound. He has struck out 13 hitters during that span. In all reality, Lopez has been one of the better pitchers in baseball to begin the new campaign.

It remains to be seen if he can continue his impressive effort. Lopez was limited to only one start in 2025 due to an injury. In 2024, however, he turned in a 1.99 ERA across 26 outings. Lopez earned the first All-Star selection of his career and he ended up finishing 11th in National League Cy Young voting.

The Braves will need Lopez to continue to perform at a high level. Their starting pitching is quite thin at the moment given all of the injuries, but Lopez features the potential to play a significant role.

The Braves' next game is scheduled for 7:15 PM EST in Atlanta against the American League Central leading Guardians.
