The Braves shared multiple injury updates on Tuesday.
The Atlanta Braves have played a quality brand of baseball to begin the 2026 MLB season. The team is performing well despite battling a number of injury concerns. On Tuesday, Braves manager Walt Weiss shared multiple injury updates, via Chad Bishop.
Strider is going to make his 2026 debut soon after spending the first month of the season on the injured list as he dealt with an oblique injury. Strider is looking for a bounce back season after his difficult 2025 campaign. If he pitches up to his full potential, Strider is more than capable of making a significant difference.
Hurston Waldrep is another pitcher who began the season on the IL. The fact that he is set to begin throwing soon is encouraging.
Raisel Iglesias, the Braves star closer, suffered an injury early this season. He has already resumed throwing.
Catcher Sean Murphy has been participating in injury rehab games. He should return soon.
The Braves hold a significant lead in the National League East. After defeating the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday night, Atlanta now holds a 7.5-game lead in the division.
Every other team in the division is currently under .500. Meanwhile, the Braves are 21-9 overall this season.
The National League East was expected to be one of the more competitive divisions in all of baseball. However, both the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets have underperformed. The Braves, meanwhile, have been one of the best teams in the entire sport.
What's Next for the Braves?
As mentioned, Atlanta got the win on Tuesday night against the Tigers at home. The contest was the first matchup of a three-game series. Atlanta will host the Tigers once again on Wednesday and Thursday.
Following their series with Detroit, the Braves will go on a nine-game road trip with three-game series against the Colorado Rockies, Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Dodgers on the schedule. It will not be an easy road trip, but the Braves will surely be confident given how well they have played.
For now, the Braves are focused on their series against the Tigers in Atlanta. On Wednesday, JR Ritchie (1-0, 2.57 ERA) will start against Tarik Skubal (3-2, 2.72 ERA). It will certainly be a challenge for Ritchie as he battles the best pitcher in the game of baseball.
It should be a competitive matchup, however. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 PM EST in Atlanta.
