The Atlanta Braves had one of the league’s top defenses all year long. On Wednesday afternoon, four players were recognized as nominees for the top defense award at their respective positions.

Starter Chris Sale, center fielder Michael Harris II, first baseman Matt Olson and utilityman Mauricio Dubón were all named finalists at their position for the Rawlings Gold Glove Award, an honor given to the top defensive player at each position.

Two of those players will be chasing another Gold Glove to add to their collection. Olson is in the running to earn the award for a fourth time, aiming to earn his second Gold Glove as a Brave. Olson was the recipient of the honor in 2018, 2019 and 2025. Sale will be hoping for his second award, as he won his first career Gold Glove in his 14th season.

On the other hand, Harris II is in the running for their first career Gold Glove, while Dubón is in the running for his third after winning in 2023 and 2025. Harris II is up against a tough pair of players, as Pete Crow-Armstrong and Andy Pages were also named finalists for center field.

In his first season with Atlanta, Dubón took a big overall leap on both sides of the field while still embracing a utility role, a versatile skillset of his in his career. He spent the majority of the year playing left field and shortstop, while also spending time at center field, third base and second base when needed. Dubón is aiming to cap off a stellar first season in Atlanta with the defensive award.

Harris II, Olson and Dubón rounded out the top-three in Braves in outs above average over the season. Harris II led the team with 14 OAA, while Olson trailed closely behind at 12 OAA. Dubón recorded 6 OAA across the multiple positions he played in 2026.

Olson is in the running at first base along with Ty France of the San Diego Padres and TJ Rumfield of the Colorado Rockies. Dubón is going up against the Pittsburgh Pirates’ Jared Triolo and Ildemaro Vargas of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Sale, who has recently emerged as one of the top fielding pitchers in the league, will be going up against Nolan McLean of the New York Mets and Michael McGreevy of the St. Louis Cardinals for the award.

Atlanta’s four nominees for a Gold Glove are tied for the second-most in the league, tied with three other teams. The winners of the award will be officially announced on Sunday, Nov. 1.
