Spencer Strider made his 2026 season debut on Sunday.

The Atlanta Braves have dealt with no shortage of injury concerns early in the 2026 MLB season. Pitching has been especially hit hard by the injury bug. On Sunday, they got one of their starting pitchers back, as Spencer Strider made his season debut. He had previously been battling an oblique injury.

It was a difficult outing for a season debut, as he made the start at Coors Field in Colorado -- which is known as a hitter's ball park and an extremely difficult place to pitch.

Atlanta earned an 11-6 win in the game. Strider had an up and down performance. He was able to limit the Rockies to only three runs across 3.1 innings of work while striking out six hitters, but the right-handed hurler also surrendered five walks. Strider gave up one home run and four total hits as well.

While it was far from a dominant performance, it was a fairly encouraging first start of the season for the right-hander. The Rockies did not get to Strider on a consistent basis aside from the home run. Walks were the primary concern for Strider.

Atlanta will continue to closely monitor his progress on the mound. The ball club is hoping that the pitcher can find more consistency sooner rather than later.

Braves Defeat Rockies in Spencer Strider's 2026 Debut

The bullpen ended up giving up three more runs following Strider's departure from the contest. The Braves' lineup provided more than enough run support, though. Atlanta had 11 runs on 14 hits in what was a stellar offensive effort on the road.

Jonah Heim and Jorge Mateo both hit home runs in the game. Six Braves had multi-hit contests. The lineup certainly enjoyed playing in Colorado on Sunday. In fact, the team has found success throughout the weekend against the Rockies.

On Friday, they earned an 8-6 victory. Atlanta then cruised to a 9-1 win on Saturday. Sunday's 11-6 victory clinched a series sweep on the road for an Atlanta ball club that continues to play a tremendous brand of baseball.

Not only do the Braves lead the National League East with their 25-10 overall record, but Atlanta currently holds the best record in the sport. The Braves are clearly going to be a legitimate contender in 2026.

Atlanta will look to continue playing at a high level in their next series against the Mariners in Seattle, with the first game scheduled for 9:40 PM EST on Monday night.
