The latest Braves injury updates were revealed on Wednesday.
The Atlanta Braves continue to play a quality band of baseball in 2026. On Wednesday, the ball club shared updates on multiple players, with one of the updates including news on Ronald Acuna Jr. Mark Bowman of MLB.com shared the updates.
Acuna is reportedly trending in the right direction. However, he will not be activated during the team's current homestand. The homestand ends on Sunday, so it remains to be seen if Acuna will return next week.
Spencer Schwellenbach is also trending in the right direction, but it has yet to be revealed when he will begin throwing. Eli White is expected to be activated from the concussion injured list on Sunday while Hurston Waldrep has been throwing bullpens but he does not currently have an injury return date.
Acuna seems like he could be activated sooner rather than later. He is continuing to recover from a hamstring injury. The Braves are understandably proceeding with caution.
The star outfielder was hitting .252/.362/.378 before landing on the injured list. He had two home runs and seven stolen bases as well. Acuna was not playing his best baseball, yet Atlanta was still performing well. If Acuna can return and play up to his MVP-level expectations, the Braves will only take a step forward which is surely a frightening thought for the rest of the league.
Braves to Play Cubs on Wednesday
Atlanta has been one of the best stories in all of MLB this year. The Braves hold the best record in the league with a mark of 29-13. Atlanta endured a plethora of injuries heading into the '26 campaign, yet the team has overcome the adversity and found success.
Now, the Braves are beginning to get players back from the IL. Spencer Strider already returned, and Acuna may be close to joining the Braves.
The team will continue to monitor and provide updates on the injured players as they are made available.
The Braves began their series with the Cubs on Tuesday with a 5-2 victory. Chicago has also been one of the best teams in baseball as well, so it was an impressive victory.
On Wednesday night, Atlanta will host the Cubs once again. It projects to be another competitive contest between two of the best teams in the sport.
First pitch for the Cubs and Braves clash is scheduled for Wednesday night at 7:15 PM EST in Atlanta.
