Ronald Acuna Jr. believes in the Braves.

The Atlanta Braves could compete in 2026. They missed the postseason in 2025 as underperformance and injuries stood in the way. Injuries are already proving to be a problem early in the 2026 campaign, as Spencer Schwellenbach and Hurston Waldrep are both currently dealing with elbow concerns. Nevertheless, Braves star Ronald Acuna Jr. is still confident in his team.

Acuna recently spoke to reporters and made his goal clear for the 2026 season, via MLB Network Radio.

"I'm so excited for the new season and my team bringing another championship to the city," Acuna said.

2025 was a struggle for the Braves. On paper, it seems like Atlanta had enough to compete. While it is true injuries played a role, many reliable stars underperformed as well.

If the Braves' typically reliable players can return to form, one has to imagine that Atlanta will get back on track.

Ronald Acuna Jr. Ready to Lead Braves

Acuna, 28, was among the players who missed time last year. He ultimately appeared in just 95 games in 2025. He made the most of his playing time, however, as Acuna slashed .290/.417/.518 across 412 plate appearances. He added 21 home runs.

Acuna is one of the best players in the entire sport when he is healthy. The last time he played in a full season -- which was 2023 -- the Braves star won the National League MVP. He hit .337/.416/.596 during the '23 campaign en route to winning the award.

It would not be surprising to see Acuna make another MVP run if healthy in 2026. He seems to be feeling alright at the moment. His status will be something to monitor all season long, however. His injury history cannot be ignored.

As for the team's overall outlook, the good news is that Chris Sale is healthy and ready to lead the rotation. Spencer Strider is also hoping to have a rebound campaign.

In the bullpen, the Braves added Robert Suarez and brought Raisel Iglesias back. Atlanta's relief core could be quite impressive this season.

Acuna leads an offense that also features sluggers such as Matt Olson and Austin Riley. If injuries don't stand in the way, the Braves' lineup could make serious noise in 2026.

Will the Braves make a championship run? Upsetting the Los Angeles Dodgers in the postseason will be a challenge for every team, but anything can happen in October.
