The Atlanta Braves have a number of stars on their roster. When healthy, Ronald Acuna Jr. is one of the best players in all of baseball. So, will Acuna end up having the third 30/30 season (30 home runs and 30 stolen bases) of his career in 2026? The question was recently asked on MLB Network, where Matt Vasgersian and Harold Reynolds shared their predictions.
Reynolds and Vasgersian were asked to give their predictions in percentage form. Vasgersian expressed confidence with a 90 percent take, while Reynolds gave it just a 25 percent chance of happening.
"He's not going to run," Reynolds said before adding that he believes Acuna will hit 30 or 40 home runs.
Injuries have been a concern for Acuna over the years. As a result, Reynolds does not expect him to attempt to steal as many bases this season. He was limited to 95 total games played in 2025 and still managed to hit 21 home runs and steal nine bases. Given his injury history, there is certainly a chance that he will run less.
With that being said, this is a player who is only 28 years old and stole a jaw-dropping mark of 73 bases in 2023. The stolen base has been part of Acuna's game throughout his time in the big leagues. He has over 200 career stolen bases. Asking him to stop running may be a difficult thing for the Braves to do given his impressive prowess on the base paths.
Having him on the field is priority number one, though. Acuna has only appeared in 120 or more games twice so far in his career. Those seasons -- which were in 2023 and 2019 -- saw him finish first and fifth in National League MVP voting. He also surpassed the 30/30 mark in each of those years. In fact, in 2023, Acuna was a 40/40 player with 41 home runs and the aforementioned 73 stolen bases.
If the Braves superstar is able to stay healthy in 2025, there is reason to believe that 30/30 will still be a possibility. Attempting less steals still could mean a respectable amount of attempts for Acuna. Perhaps another 70 stolen base campaign is out of the question, but 30 steals feels like it still could be realistic.
Do you expect Ronald Acuna Jr. to have a 30/30 season in 2026?
