Spencer Strider exited the Braves' game on Friday.
The Atlanta Braves began the 2026 MLB season without Spencer Strider due to injury. On Friday against the New York Mets, Strider suffered another injury scare. After allowing seven runs across three innings of work, Strider exited the game due to right arm soreness, the Braves announced.
Strider has been impacted by injuries during his career. Now he is dealing with yet another injury concern. It remains to be seen if this specific injury will force Strider to miss time.

Through eight games pitched this season, the right-handed hurler has turned in a 5.31 ERA across 39 innings of work. He has also struck out 46 hitters.
There was a time when Strider was considered to be one of the best pitchers in the sport. Injuries have forced him to miss time in recent seasons as mentioned though. He was able to appear in 23 games last year, but Strider turned in a 4.45 ERA.
In 2022, Strider had a 2.67 ERA. He followed that season with a 3.86 ERA and a career-best 281 strikeouts during the 2023 campaign.
The Braves would obviously love for Strider to find his form from early in his career once again, but he is going to need to find a way to avoid injuries in order to accomplish that feat.
Braves Lose to Mets on Friday
The Mets defeated the Braves by a final score of 7-5 on Friday night. The good news is that Atlanta's bullpen did not have to be over-worked despite Strider's early exit. JR Ritchie gave the ball club five stellar innings out of the bullpen, so the Braves only had two total pitchers in the game.
Ritchie did not allow a run and he only surrendered two hits. It was a clutch effort to say the least.
Offensively, Ozzie Albies led the way with two hits. Matt Olson also hit a home run in the ball game. The Braves ultimately finished the game with five runs on nine hits.
The Braves are now 45-24 this year. They remain in first place in the National League East standings. The Mets are still in last place with a 31-38 record.
Atlanta will play the Mets once again in New York on Saturday afternoon in the second contest of the three-game series. First pitch for the game is scheduled for 4:10 PM EST.
