In the latest episode of The Roundtable Rundown Show, Josh Valdez and Joey Mistretta discuss a number of topics including the Atlanta Braves' offseason. Additionally, Josh and Joey react to the recent Bo Bichette and Cody Bellinger signings.
Here's a breakdown of the episode.
Outfielder Cody Bellinger recently re-signed with the New York Yankees while infielder Bo Bichette landed with the New York Mets. The Mets later traded for outfielder Luis Robert Jr. and starting pitcher Freddy Peralta.
The guys applauded the Mets for their moves following a challenging start to the offseason. They feel like the Yankees could do more, but agreed that bringing Bellinger back was a strong move.
When the question of which teams in each league are the biggest threats to the juggernaut that is the Los Angeles Dodgers, Mistretta and Valdez both agreed on the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League. In the National League, however, Valdez said the Mets while Mistretta said the Chicago Cubs.
Atlanta's offseason has been respectable. Mistretta and Valdez are fans of the Robert Suarez signing. Meanwhile, the Mike Yastrzemski addition adds further outfield depth.
As far as starting pitching is concerned, the guys agreed that Atlanta should attempt to add another starter. Of course, Framber Valdez or Zac Gallen would be ideal candidates, but even a pitcher such as Lucas Giolito is certainly a guy they think would help the Braves. The possibility of Justin Verlander or Max Scherzer ending up in Atlanta was also discussed during the show.
Overall, they do believe in the Braves and feel like the ball club can bounce back following their difficult 2025 season.
It has been a busy couple of weeks around the MLB world. With stars still remaining in free agency such as Valdez and Gallen, there will be more movement before spring training begins in February.
The World Baseball Classic is also right around the corner. Teams' rosters are currently being finalized for the tournament which is set to be played in March.
