Brewers Make Intriguing, Familiar Hire at Hitting Coach cover image

The Milwaukee Brewers have officially finalized their coaching staff ahead of the 2026 season, bringing back a familiar face in a new capacity.

The Milwaukee Brewers are looking towards the 2026 season with a new vision of leadership on offense, and they’ve officially shaped up their coaching staff. Brewers manager Pat Murphy is bringing back a former player to take on a role with the club. Former first baseman Daniel Vogelbach is joining the staff as the organization’s hitting coach. Vogelbach was also a designated hitter for the Brewers in his time there from 2020 to 2021. The lefty slugger brings nine years of major league playing experience to the staff.

In addition, Milwaukee elevated Eric Theisen to lead hitting coach. Theisen was promoted from an assistant role to a much more active role in the club’s vision for 2026. Per ESPN, lead hitting coach Al LeBoeuf and first base coach Julio Borbón from last season will now transition into player development and scouting-focused roles.

Here is the full story from Brewers Roundtable writer Anthony Arroyo on the additions to the staff.

It will be the first on-field coaching job for Vogelbach. He spent time in the Pittsburgh Pirates’ operations department after his retirement in 2024. The Brewers are betting on Vogelbach’s discipline and ability to get on base to translate to a better offensive outing in 2026.
