The New York Mets have swung one of the biggest trades of the offseason, acquiring All-Star right-hander Freddy Peralta from the Milwaukee Brewers in a blockbuster deal that immediately reshapes the National League landscape.

Trade talks between the two clubs were initially reported by Jon Heyman of the New York Post, who broke the news that the Mets were in serious discussions with Milwaukee regarding Peralta. Shortly after, Jeff Passan of ESPN confirmed that the deal was finalized, reporting that the Mets had officially landed the ace right-hander.

According to Passan, the Brewers will receive two of the Mets’ top prospects, shortstop Jett Williams and right-handed pitcher Brandon Sproat, as the centerpiece of the return.

In addition, one more big league pitcher is heading to New York as part of the completed trade, though that component has yet to be formally announced.

Peralta, 29, has been one of the most consistent starters in the National League over the past several seasons.

Known for his high-octane fastball and swing-and-miss slider, the right-hander has developed into a frontline starter capable of dominating lineups deep into games.

He earned All-Star honors and has been a fixture atop the Brewers’ rotation, regularly posting strong strikeout numbers while limiting hard contact.

For the Mets, the move signals a clear win-now mentality. After investing heavily in star talent in recent seasons, New York adds a proven arm who can anchor the rotation and provide stability in high-leverage postseason situations.

Peralta immediately slots in as one of the Mets’ top starters and gives the club another legitimate ace alongside its existing core.

Milwaukee, meanwhile, continues its trend of leveraging established major-league talent to bolster a strong farm system.

Williams is regarded as one of the Mets’ most dynamic position-player prospects, offering elite athleticism and on-base ability, while Sproat has drawn attention for his power arsenal and rapid development through the minors.
