After a career-defining season, Milwaukee Brewers' Jake Bauers battles league superstars for a shot at the Hank Aaron Award.

It feels like ages since a big offensive award has come to the Milwaukee Brewers organization.

Here in 2026, Jake Bauers has a chance to bring home the Hank Aaron Award, one that is given to baseball's best offensive performer.

Bauers, 30, is fresh off the best year of his seven-year career in the big leagues.

Currently in his third season with the Brewers, this has exceeded each of the last two years combined.

After hitting .300+ in a limited sample size these last two postseasons, it's only a matter of time before Bauers hits a huge home run in the National League Division Series.

Keep in mind, the Hank Aaron Award is one that's only given out for regular season performances, so it doesn't factor in whatever would happen in the NLDS or beyond.

Brewers' Bauers faces stiff competition

Adam McCalvy, who covers the Brewers for MLB.com, revealed the 10 nominees for both the American and National League, and it shows just how great Bauers has been this year as he's in the same conversation as a pair of MVP candidates.

  • CJ Abrams
  • Pete Crow-Armstrong
  • Elly De La Cruz
  • Shohei Ohtani
  • Matt Olson
  • Kyle Schwarber
  • Sal Stewart
  • Fernando Tatis Jr.
  • Jordan Walker

In total, Bauers is up against nine of the best hitters not only in the NL, but in the entire league.

It's incredible to think that the NL has five representatives from the NL Central, a division that the Brewers have had locked down for these last four seasons.

Looking at the field, winning the award would be a long shot, but again, for Bauers to even make it to this point after all he's been through is a testament to just how good he truly is, both mentally and on the field.

Recapping Bauers' career year

Never before has Bauers had a year where he's been an above-1.0 WAR player, but his total here in 2026 was a staggering 3.3.

Bauers sported new career highs in seemingly every category, including his .266/.389/.484 slash line along with an OPS of .874.

Not only is he setting these new career highs, but he's doing so with 477 at-bats in 144 games played.

For reference, Bauers only had 485 at-bats combined in his first two years with the team.

During the 2026 regular season, Bauers led the Brewers with his 26 home runs and .389 on-base percentage.

Overall, his name has consistently been near the top of the Brewers' offense alongside the likes of Jackson Choruio, William Contreras, and Brice Turang.
