Peter Strzelecki returns to the Milwaukee Brewers on a minor-league deal, seeking redemption in Triple-A after a rocky New York Yankees stint and a whirlwind DFA earlier this season.
It's amazing how quickly things can change as Peter Strzelecki is once again back in the Milwaukee Brewers organization.
Things haven't exactly gone according to plan for the 31-year-old this season, but he once again finds himself with the Brewers.
After a brief stint with the New York Yankees, Jon Heyman of the New York Post revealed the Brewers came to an agreement to bring Strzelecki back on a minor-league contract.
To no surprise, that means Strzelecki will have to prove himself at the Triple-A level, something he hasn't been able to do much lately. That's not to say his numbers are horrific, but Milwaukee has plenty of pitching depth so it's not like Strzelecki is first on their list of players to be called up.

Strzelecki was called up on May 16, but the Brewers quickly changed their mind and designated him for assignment on May 17. That was a tough pill to swallow for someone who appeared in 66 games for this team in 2022 and 2023, but Strzelecki simply hasn't been the same pitcher he used to be.
Remember, this is a guy who hasn't pitched in the big leagues since 2024. That year, he appeared in 10 games and sported a 2.31 ERA with a 1.20 WHIP. At this point, it's nothing but a depth move for the Brewers.
Things did not work out for Strzelecki in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. In six relief appearances, he sported a 7.71 ERA for the RailRiders, one that the Yankees had seen enough of and decided there was no room for him.
Will the Brewers Ever Call Up Strzelecki?
It's certainly not impossible, especially with an upcoming stretch where the Brewers have to play 18 games in 17 days. Late in the year, specifically, could be a great time to find a spot for Strzelecki if an injury comes up or there's a need for an extra reliever for whatever reason it may be.
At the end of the day, Strzelecki has a career ERA of 4.67 in the minors. In his first 16 games with the Nashville Sounds this season, he was 0-1 with a 4.12 ERA. It's not like that ERA is ideal, but it's the lowest he's had since a 27 game sample size in 2022, still with Nashville, where he was 4-0 with a 2.84 ERA.
Strzelecki's age is certainly working against him, but if he can work with the pitching staff and get back on track, there's definitely a chance he at least appears in a big league game or two this season. Of course, there are no guarantees, and for all everyone knows he could be out of the Brewers organization again in a months time.
