Milwaukee Brewers' Pat Murphy leans on a relatively fresh bullpen to stifle the San Diego Padres’ bats.
The Milwaukee Brewers have gotten nine innings out of Jacob Misiorowski and Logan Henderson in the National League Division Series.
That seems like a nightmare, but with how good this bullpen is, there's been absolutely nothing wrong with it.
At the end of the day, manager Pat Murphy knows he has to be extra careful about giving the San Diego Padres three at-bats against their starting pitchers.
No matter if it's Misiorowski or Henderson, the more times a batter sees a pitcher, the more likely they are to record a hit or score a run.
With how well this bullpen has pitched in the first two games, the Brewers would be thrilled with three innings from Dustin May in Game 3.
Obviously, the more the merrier, but there's no point in getting greedy with how well-rested most of this pitching staff truly is.
Aaron Ashby and Abner Uribe are questionable
In terms of giving a red or green light to these two pitchers in Game 3, Murphy knows it'll depend on how the game is going.
Right now they're sitting in the yellow as both have pitched in each of the first two games.
Uribe's pitch count is at 42, and Ashby's is at 35. Knowing they each had Monday, Oct. 5, off, if a situation presents itself where they need to pitch to secure a series victory, that seems to be a risk worth taking.
The Brewers still have a few arms who haven't even needed to pitch thus far, so obviously those will be the go-to relievers to follow May.
Brewers have four pitchers who have yet to appear
When it comes to a guy like Robert Gasser, it's obvious they are saving him to start Game 4, should the Brewers come up short when the series first shifts to San Diego.
Shane Drohan could easily be used as an opener, or a solid option to get a few innings from if May's start doesn't go according to plan.
Chad Patrick has had a rough go of it lately, so maybe that's why Murphy has been keeping him on the bench for the time being.
Kyle Harrison made this roster, which may have been a shock to some, but he put together a great final outing. His home and road splits have been eye-opening, to say the least, and he doesn't have the best track record pitching on the West Coast, so it'll be interesting to see how Murphy handles his usage.
